This project was never about making a bold statement. It was about building a life.

The clients came to us as a young family of five, including newborn twins, a French bulldog, and a house from 1960 that didn’t quite match the rhythm of their days. They cook a lot. They host often.

They wanted a home that felt light and calm, a space that could handle real life and still feel special.

We reworked the core layout, removing walls and reorganizing circulation so the main living spaces now move in a continuous loop. That circular flow changed everything. Hosting feels effortless. Kids can move freely. The kitchen is no longer isolated, but fully integrated into daily life. We redesigned it from the ground up, prioritizing function, generous prep space, and smart storage that keeps visual noise to a minimum.

At the entry, we carved out substantial storage to absorb the reality of boots, coats, and dog gear.

Because the home was originally built in the 60s, it felt honest to introduce subtle midcentury influences: warm wood tones, sculptural lighting, Marcel Breuer chairs, clean lines. Materials were chosen for longevity: oak, quartz, stucco, wool, stain-resistant velvet.

And yes, the cream rug may feel like a bold move in a house this busy. The homeowners allowed themselves one slightly impractical indulgence. An easy swap-out when the time comes.

The dining area was designed to adapt. An expandable table allows the family to shift from everyday dinners to full gatherings with ease, working seamlessly with a custom extra-long bench that doubles as flexible entertainment seating. It’s practical, but it also invites people to linger.

The primary suite required a full rethink. We shifted the layout to create a spa-level bathroom anchored by a wet room concept, heated floors, towel warmers, and layered ambient lighting. It’s a retreat, designed for two parents who need some quiet at the end of the day.

This home is about ease. About movement. A place that doesn’t try too hard, but works incredibly hard behind the scenes.
